Charles Joyner

December 11, 2020, Charles Quinn Joyner, affectionately known to family and friends as "Sonny" peacefully made his transition at age 77.

Born December 17, 1942 in Beaver Falls, PA, he was the eldest son of the late Mozelle James-Joyner and James Joyner.

Charles graduated in 1961 from Ambridge High in PA. Charles served in the Marines as a driver for the General from 1961-1964 when he was honorably discharged. He worked in the Steel Mill for a short time before making his journey to Pontiac, MI in 1966. Charles was a member of the American Legion. He retired from General Motors after 25 years.

Charles met Letitia Ann Rogers and in 1979 his pride and joy was born, Marne' Latrice Joyner. Along with being his baby girl's hero, he had many other joys and hobbies. Charles loved to read mystery novels, the newspaper and completing crossword puzzles. Charles stayed casting his bids in the lottery and listening to good music, jazz bands were his favorite. Charles was serious about his shades and Kangol style hats.

Charles was a family man that took pride in being the "Big Brother" the go to. In 2001 he was gifted another title, "Paw Paw" to his right-hand man Marnez Joyner and again in 2006 to Chelsea Joyner.

Charles was preceded in death his parents; James Joyner, Mozelle Joyner-Ellis (Pate), brothers; Gordon "Butch" Joyner and Herman Joyner, sisters; Patricia Ann Joyner and two bonus sisters; Cynthia Keys and Valerie Curtis.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory; one child Marne' Latrice Joyner, 2 grandchildren; Marnez and Chelsea Joyner, brother; Marc Joyner Ellis, 10 sisters; Marlene (Joseph) Tate, Dean Cobb, Wanda Crosby, Lorraine Tipton, Lydia Velez, Virginia Joyner-Locougna, Roberta Edmonds, Carla Murray, Angel Ellis and Kimberly Joyner, 2 bonus children; George Rogers and Roshonda Byrdo, 5 bonus grandchildren, a bonus brother; William Rogers, Jr., 2 bonus sisters Leslie Lightner and Beverly Rogers, a special son-in-law Larry Vining, special friend Brenda Boulden as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Joyner was held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Cobb's Funeral 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Services were private at the Corless-Matter Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1133 Church Street Ambridge, PA 15003, www.corlessmatterfuneralhome.com.

Internment will be held at Economy Cemetery.
