Dale J. Gatehouse

Dale J. Gatehouse, 84, of Economy Borough, died Friday, October 25, 2024. 

Born October 23, 1940, in Sewickley, he was the son of the late Walter and Bernice Holland Gatehouse. He graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Dale was a US Army Veteran and a retired Police Lieutenant of Economy Borough after 31 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4 and Blue Knights Chapter 21. Dale loved to be outdoors most of all, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved spending time in his garden. 

Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Janice Vaupel Gatehouse; two children, Denise (Von) Gatehouse Romesburg, and Timothy (Kristen) Gatehouse; brother, Wesley Gatehouse; sister, Genevieve Gourley; two granddaughters, Jordan Tatsch and Morgan Tatsch; and several nieces and a nephew. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunts and uncles. 

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the CORLESS-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, LLC, 1133 Church Street, Ambridge, where a service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM. 

Interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dale’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
