Douglas Mercadante

April 3, 1957 — February 18, 2023

Baden

Douglas "Doug" L. Mercadante, 65, of Baden, passed away at his home on February 18, 2023, after an extended battle with multiple sclerosis.

Born on April 3, 1957, Doug was a 1975 graduate of Ambridge Area High School, and he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Robert Morris University. He was also a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After graduation, he joined his father in the family accounting business of Mercadante and Company in 1979, earned his CPA in 1983, and later became a partner and worked until his retirement. He was also an active member of the Ambridge Masonic Lodge.

Until his illness prevented him, he enjoyed attending concerts, NASCAR races, driving his muscle car, hunting, horseback riding, and vacationing at the beach and in the mountains. He enjoyed many vacations to Treasure Lake, PA, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Clark, CO with his wife and children. His love of live music and concerts lives on through his daughter Amanda. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and adopted his daughter Heather's Kentucky Wildcats as his preferred college basketball team after she moved to Kentucky.

Doug was the beloved eldest son of Louis and Nancy Mercadante. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Barbara Sue "Suzie" Mercadante; his father, Louis; his two daughters, Heather (Zachary) Becker and Amanda (Zachary) Mace; four precious grandchildren, Cecilia, Malcolm, Adeline, and Rowan; four siblings, Kathy Mallison, Randy (Becky), Rick (Ellise), and Gary; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Mercadante, earlier this year.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 10th from 6-8 PM and Saturday, March 11th from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 PM in the CORLESS-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS SERVICES, LLC 1133 Church Street Ambridge, PA 15003.
