Milton "Red" G. Macie, 97, of Harmony Township, died May 30, 2023, peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born on February 24, 1926, in Ambridge, he was son of the late Ignacius and Michalina Kucharski Maciejewski.
A WWII Navy Veteran, he served as a Gunners Mate Third Class aboard the destroyer USS Hailey during the Pacific War campaign and fought in the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Red met the love of his life, Audrey, at Pop Marrow's Skating Rink in Ambridge. They would marry in 1949 and shared 74 years of love and devotion. In 1961, he, alongside his brothers, build a home for his wife and family.
He worked at H.H. Robertson's in Ambridge for 40 years in various roles, retiring in 1988 as a Superintendent.
Red cherished his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and taught them the values of life. They lovingly referred to him as "puppy" and "Mr. Fix-it". During his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling and attending several of his Navy shipmate reunions. His favorite pastime was working on projects around the home and for the family.
A member of Good Samaritan Church and longtime prior member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Red is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Quigley Macie; three children, Robert (Mikki) Macie (Moon Twp), Nancy (Frank) Serrao (Cleveland, OH) and David (Belinda) Macie (Fremont, CA); grandchildren, Jenn (Daniel) McNeely, Mat Monahan, Kelly (David) Baker, Kathleen (Anthony) Grkman, Jada Macie and Kaydan Macie; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Macie, Jayse McNeely and Millie Baker. Along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Wrotny, along with brothers and sisters, Edward, Henry, Frank, Joseph, John, Andrew, Steve, Stanley, Genevieve, Henrietta, Stella, Stephanie and Sophia.
As per Red and family request, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Villa of St. Joseph in Baden, Pa or the VA of Beaver County.
