Norman Stewart Amsler, 90, of Zelienople, died Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Passavant Community Homes.
Born May 30, 1934, in Sewickley, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Jane Stewart Amsler. Norman was a veteran of the US Army and a graduate of Grove City College. After college he continued to be a history teacher at Beaver Jr and Sr. High School for 33 years. He was very active within the community, Norman was a former cub scout master for Economy Boro, as well as the past treasurer and director of Wallrose Insurance Company. He was also a founding member of PAABA (Pittsburgh Area Artist Blacksmith Association) and a Vicory House Member.
Norman has a love for history and antique equipment. He was the owner of Hit and Miss Engines, which he loved to hear putt. Norman also enjoyed using his hands. He drilled many water wells in the 60’s and 70’s and built models of oil wells.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 64 years, Roberta Murphy Amsler; four children, David (Tammy) Amsler, Carolyn (Rex) Dietz, Dr. Daniel (Diane) Amsler, and Doug (Chris) Amsler; seven grandchildren, Emily, Stephen, Megan, Alex, Ashley, Annie, and Abby; 10 great-grandchildren in February; and close friends, Warren (deceased) and Arlene Mawhinney and family, as well as his camp buddies.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1-5 PM at the CORLESS-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, LLC, 1133 Church Street, Ambridge and Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM at the Seaman Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church at Passavant Community Homes, 105 Burgess Drive Zelienople, PA 16063. Pastor Freda Snyder will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Rehoboth Cemetery.
